About Technology 2020
The Technology 2020
project was initiated in 1993 to capitalize on the unique resources
of the East Tennessee region: the presence of the Oak Ridge
National Lab, the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, the
headquarters of the Tennessee Valley Authority, and a significant
number of large and small technology companies in the region. Since
its inception, Technology 2020 has played a key role in the
creation of more than 214 innovative companies with an annual
regional payroll of more than $128 million and a total economic
impact of more than $260 million.
